Hi, I’m trying to publish a Plasma 6 widget so it appears in Plasma’s widget explorer under Get New…
The widget works correctly when installed locally with kpackagetool6, and it appears in my local widget list as expected. However, I can’t seem to get it published/visible through the “Get New Widgets” dialog in Plasma.
Hi! As far as I know, your widget also needs to be marked as compatible with Plasma 6 and approved for the correct KNewStuff (Get New Widgets) feed. Simply placing it in the Plasma 6 Applets category on the KDE Store isn’t always enough. It may also take some time after approval before it appears in the Widget Explorer. Could someone confirm if there are any additional metadata or store requirements that need to be met?
Thanks for the detailed report — we dug into this on our end. There were some recent updates to how products get synced into our search index, and it looks like a few items (including yours) fell into a blind spot during that transition.
We tested “FX Rate Chart” on a fresh KDE Neon system just now and it is showing up correctly in the Get New Widgets dialog under Plasma 6 Extensions. Could you please check again on your side and let us know if it’s now visible for you as well? If it’s still missing, let us know which distro/Plasma version you’re testing with, and we’ll keep digging.
I don’t know if before I was failing to see it because of the search, as when I put in the search bar fx, it returns nothing, however, when I put rate in the search bar it immediately appears.
It’s really easy to explain: the system only starts searching for entries with at least 3 letters—at least according to what I’ve heard. But I’m glad it’s working for you now. If you have any other questions, just let me know.
