OpenHV - pling.com was not uploaded by me but a random stranger unaffiliated with the project who then stopped maintaining it, serving an outdated version, which is a bad thing for a multiplayer online game. Is there a way to automate releasing new versions, preferably with GitHub Actions?
Also, the metadata is completely off. It is a strategy game, not an arcade one.
There’s no way currently to automate uploading to Pling. The first step would be to reach out to the user (via a comment on the product) to see if they are willing to update it and continue to keep it up to date on Pling. If they aren’t or don’t respond please feel free to upload the latest version.
Hm, yes, it’s difficult right now. Well, we don’t offer anything automatically yet. We are considering providing an endpoint for a webhook that can be called from the Github Actions.
Even though the projects here are all supposed to be open source, we have not planned for the content to be changed by anyone other than the uploader. We will think of something else.
If there are problems with the software, then I would suggest we take it offline. I agree that a
version that is over 3 years old could cause compatibility issues with this type of game.
This is another user’s product, we would never let any user edit it. What I mean is to reach out to the user via comment and ask them to maintain the product by uploading the newer version.
Alternatively, upload the new version yourself if you wish to maintain it on Pling and we will remove the old version if it is no longer maintained.
