Don't close threads after they're marked as closed

All it does is disincentivise ever utilising the feature, even if a particular comment deserves prominence in a thread due to its usefulness.

The forum is used for support, once the issue has been resolved there isn’t much else to discuss. Closing threads prevents them from being resurrected months or years in the future. People can always reference threads and they’re never deleted, so the information is not lost or hidden.

@justinz, doesn’t that merely disincentivise users to mask useful comments as solutions?

Useful comments are always welcome, but if a user reports an issue and the issue has been solved, then the thread can be closed. There is no more use for it. Users can create new threads for new issues that haven’t been solved and if relevant link to the existing closed discussion.

@justinz, perhaps my misspelling of “mark” as “mask” rendered my sentence somewhat incomprehensible – I meant that having solved threads close, but unsolved threads not close, would incentivise users like myself to simply never mark the thread as closed.

9/10 times it is me marking a thread as Solved, which closes it after 1 day, I believe. It’s more for me to know which threads I need to still look into.
