The flags indicate that frequent simultaneous updates across multiple products are perceived as annoying by the community—this is important feedback for us. We plan to adjust the ranking system to prevent frequent minor changes from dominating the overview lists.

Precious thought, indeed.
I’ve been wondering about that problem too. The only way of implementation I can actually think of is an update counter that increments on each relevant update. This number can later be compared to the number of weeks passed since initial upload. If those figures are equal, the corresponding product forges on as much as possible. Otherwise its representation on the website is suboptimal and could take some manual assistance.
